What are the responsibilities and job description for the Surgical Tech position at Pedes Orange County?
- Assist in Interventional Radiology procedures as part of a team under the supervision of physicians, registered nurses, or other surgical personnel.
- Help prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments and equipment, sterile drapes, and sterile solutions.
- Assist in transportation of patients including preparing the stretcher, identifying the patient with arm band, and transportation patient to the OR.
- Prepares patients for procedures by disinfecting incision sites.
- Assist in transferring patients to post-op to recover after procedures.
- Pass instruments and other sterile supplies to physician(s) during procedures.
- Helps prepare, care for, and dispose of specimens taken for laboratory analysis and helps apply dressings.
- Assist in restocking rooms according to established standards.
- Assist in the preparation and aftercare of equipment and supplies.
- Clean soiled instruments, check for defective items, assemble clean instruments and store in designed areas.
- Maintain logs and documentation relating to proper sterilization procedures.
- Assist in cleanup/turnover of rooms between procedures including:
- Bagging soiled linen
- Disposing of soiled instruments and salvaged supplies to workroom
- Disposing of sharps in appropriate receptacles
- Assist in raising standards and work performance.
- Participate in nursing care conferences as a member of the nursing team.
- Attend planned meetings.
- Make suggestions to improve the job and enhance team concepts.
- Report to supervisor anything happening regarding procedures that are out of the ordinary or contrary to the Center’s Nursing and Administrative policies.
- All staff, including supervisors and managers, are responsible for:
- Protecting the center’s hardware, software, information, and data by complying with its security/privacy policies and procedures and correctly using security technologies.
- Using computer terminals and workstations in a manner that protects the security of information they access.
- Reporting all security/privacy breaches to their supervisors or to the Privacy Officer when their supervisors are unavailable.
- Maintaining the confidentiality of their password.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current CPR/BLS
- High School Diploma and certificate of completion from an accredited surgical technologist program.
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of one year of experience in a vascular OR, cath lab, or IR suite.
