Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated surgical/patient care coordinator for our Center of Excellence. We are a solo, private practice office with a specialized program that you will lead. You must be dependable, meticulous, and detail-oriented.
Responsibilities:
- Scheduling patients, intake of registration and insurance into our EMR system, verification of insurance, and putting together medical charts.
- Answering telephones and emails, addressing common questions about surgical times, appointments, and instructions.
- Preparing patient invoices and collecting copays for office visits.
- Assisting patients with their testing scheduling
- Ensuring adequate preparation for surgeries by reviewing patient charts and testing results to be sure all tests are complete.
- Ensuring all surgeries are scheduled promptly according to the Surgeon's schedule and timeline.
- Requesting authorization from insurance company for surgery. Following up on authorizations and filing peer-to-peer, appeals or GAPs when necessary.
- Scheduling patient surgeries, sending booking sheets to the hospital, and following up on surgical clearance.
- Providing patients with pre- and post-operative instructions and prescriptions.
- Obtaining surgical documents and entering post-surgery data into patients' records for the billing team.
- Scanning hospital Facesheets and insurance correspondence to off-sight billing company
- Calling insurance companies to obtain authorization for testing and surgery.
Requirements:
- 5 years of experience in administrative work in the medical field, preferably in plastics
- Knowledge of EMR systems, eClinical Works specifically, but not necessary.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records, and medical coding
- Knowledge and understanding of medical insurance, including collecting copays, deductibles, and coinsurances, as well as obtaining authorizations.
- Excellent computer skills. Must be proficient in all Microsoft programs including Word and Excel.
- Must be proficient in Google Suite (sheets, docs, email, and drive storage).
- Must be proficient in Adobe Acrobat to create, organize, and combine files.
- Marketing, and social media experience a plus.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Must be able to multitask and work independently.
- Must be dependable, punctual, honest, and hardworking.
- Other tasks as assigned by the Practice Manager or Billing Department.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
