What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Based Psychologist position at Pediatric Therapeutic Services?
School Based Psychologist
When working in a school setting, psychologists like you provide a range of mental health services and support to students and families. By addressing the root cause of each child’s concerns, you give every child what they need to succeed in the classroom and beyond. A few of the many things you might do as a school psychologist include:
- Assessing students’ mental health conditions
- Evaluating students’ mental health functioning
- Completing and filing compliance documentation
- Leading individual or small-group counseling sessions
Here at PTS, we use an Integrated Systems of Support Model in our partnering schools, which is based on the understanding that students benefit most when their interventions and related services are aligned.
As a school psychologist in this context, you’ll provide in-service trainings for teachers, administrators, and fellow clinicians to help them learn best practices for supporting students’ mental health needs, so they can fully access their education. By collaborating with other providers and staff, you’ll play a key part in supporting students’ health and well-being.
