Peerless Machine and Tool, a worldwide leader in the manufacture of paper converting machinery and tooling, is looking to hire a CMM Operator with CNC machining to join our manufacturing team. The CMM Operator will be responsible for operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to inspect and verify that manufactured parts meet precise specifications and quality standards, as well as work with CNC (Computer Numerical Control) equipment to support production. The ideal candidate has a strong background in metrology, excellent attention to detail, and a commitment to producing high-quality results.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Set up and operate CMM equipment to inspect parts and assemblies.
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and CAD data.
- Perform dimensional inspections using manual tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges).
- Write or edit inspection programs using CMM software.
- Document inspection results and generate detailed reports.
- Communicate inspection results to relevant departments and assist in root cause analysis when required.
- Operate CNC machines to manufacture or rework parts to specification.
- Perform setups, tool changes, and basic CNC programming or offsets as required.
- Maintain CMM and CNC equipment and ensure calibration records are up to date.
- Assist in continuous improvement efforts within the quality department.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification required; technical degree or certification in metrology or machining preferred.
- 2 years of experience operating CMMs in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience operating CNC machines (manual setup and/or program adjustment).
- Solid understanding of GD&T, part tolerancing, and mechanical drawings.
- Familiarity with both CMM and CNC programming languages/software.
- Ability to use standard inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and indicators.
- Great attention to detail with a goal-driven attitude.
- Good computer and mathematical skills.
- A strong work ethic, a stable work history, solid communication skills, pleasant attitude, and a team player mentality.
- Knowledge of Fanuc and Haas controls a plus.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
