PeerSource is currently recruiting for a Senior Storage Administrator on a Direct Hire basis. This role can be based out of either Gulfport, MS or New Orleans, LA.
Summary
We are seeking an experienced Storage Administrator to manage and support enterprise storage and backup systems, ensuring high performance, security, and recoverability. This role involves overseeing SAN fabrics, data protection, backup and recovery solutions, and collaborating with IT teams to optimize storage infrastructure. Candidates with strong backup expertise will be highly valued, and mentoring opportunities are available for those stronger in one area than the other.
Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain storage and backup systems, including SAN, NAS, and cloud-based solutions.
- Manage SAN fabrics, including storage array provisioning, LUN creation/destruction, and zoning for new servers and devices.
- Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions, including cyber recovery strategies.
- Work with technologies such as Dell EMC, Avamar (backup), and Data Domain (storage repository).
- Monitor performance and capacity, optimizing storage resource allocation.
- Collaborate with security teams to enforce data protection policies and ensure compliance.
- Troubleshoot storage and backup-related issues, conducting root cause analysis and resolution.
- Maintain documentation of configurations, processes, and policies.
- Mentor team members, providing guidance in storage or backup areas as needed.
Required Skills
- 5 years of experience in storage administration, including SAN, NAS, and cloud-based backup solutions.
- Strong expertise in backup and recovery solutions, with experience in Dell Avamar and Data Domain/PowerProtect DD preferred (open to considering someone strong in storage and weak in backup, or vice versa, as the manager is willing to train the other side).
- Experience managing Dell EMC storage arrays and executing SAN zoning.
- Proficiency with storage management and monitoring tools.
- Knowledge of cyber recovery strategies and data protection best practices.
- Understanding of regulatory compliance requirements in the banking sector.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
