Industrial Estimating Specialist

Job Summary:

We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Industrial Estimating Specialist to join our team at our heat exchanger and pressure vessel fabrication facility in Bourbonnais, IL. In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing Request for Quotations (RFQs) from clients, working with suppliers to gather material pricing and availability, and creating comprehensive estimates and quotes. You will manage deadlines, communicate regularly with clients, internal fabrication teams, and external suppliers to ensure accurate, timely, and cost-effective proposals. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in industrial estimating and purchasing, looking to apply their skills in a dynamic and growing industry.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze RFQs: Review and assess client RFQs to determine material and fabrication requirements for heat exchangers and pressure vessels.
• Supplier Coordination: Reach out to relevant material suppliers to obtain accurate pricing, lead times, and availability, ensuring all required materials are sourced according to specifications.
• Estimate Creation: Develop and document detailed cost estimates and proposals, factoring in labor, materials, overhead, and other relevant costs.
• Client Communication: Respond to client inquiries with clear, accurate quotes and scheduling updates. Manage ongoing communication regarding estimates, project timelines, and potential adjustments.
• Schedule Management: Maintain and track deadlines, ensuring estimates are completed on time and clients are regularly updated on progress.
• Collaboration with Internal Teams: Work closely with technicians and fabrication personnel to ensure that material specifications are met, and all required components are ordered on time.
• Overseas Purchases: Collaborate with the central estimating and purchasing team to manage international material procurement and ensure cost-effective, on-time deliveries.
• Documentation & Reporting: Maintain organized records of all RFQs, estimates, supplier communications, and project timelines.

Key Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial estimating or purchasing, ideally in a manufacturing or fabrication setting.
• Purchasing & Estimating Skills: Experience with industrial purchasing, cost estimation, and supplier coordination.
• Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to manage relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
• Organizational Skills: Proven ability to manage multiple projects, track deadlines, and handle competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Attention to Detail: Strong ability to review technical specifications, identify potential issues, and ensure accuracy in estimating and quoting.
• Software Skills: Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
• Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams (fabrication, purchasing, central estimating) and external vendors.
