Position Overview
The Financial Accounting Manager is responsible for ensuring appropriate ledger accounting and controls are in place in accordance with appropriate accounting policies. This position is responsible for a team of Financial Accountants and Financial Accounting Supervisor ensuring the of appropriate accounting practices. The position requires the knowledge necessary to analyze, interpret, and make decisions based on varying facts or circumstances. This position will be responsible for the operations of both the Property & Casualty (P&C) and Life companies.

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
Minimum of 7 years of related experience preferably in the insurance industry
Four years of experience in leading and managing teams

This position is responsible for a team of Financial Accountants and Financial Accounting Supervisor ensuring the of appropriate accounting practices. The position requires the knowledge necessary to analyze, interpret, and make decisions based on varying facts or circumstances. This position will be responsible for the operations of both the Property & Casualty (P&C) and Life companies.
Essential Job Functions
- Trains, supervises, and mentors financial accounting staff
- Reviews daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual processing of accounting
- Answers questions and inquiries from management, auditors, and regulatory authorities
- Prepares responses for external auditors’, state examiners’, and regulatory authorities’ requests
- Assists with the preparation and review of various departmental responsibilities
- Assists other areas of Accounting with accounting issues and special projects
- Monthly processing, reviewing, analyzing, and balancing of all data needed for financials
- Responsible for ensuring adherence to controls
- Maintains general ledger system in Workday
- Reconciles and reviews bank statements and accounts monthly
- Performs other duties as assigned
Required

- Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Microsoft Office software
- $93,500-$130,900 per year
- This range is based on the expected level of experience and skills for this position. Final compensation will depend on individual qualifications.
