What are the responsibilities and job description for the Card Services Representative position at Pelican State Credit Union?
The role of the Card Services Representative is to perform administrative assistance with the day-to-day activities, procedures, and clerical needs of the Card Service Department. This representative will serve the member’s needs by handling credit and debit inquiries over the phone. Our Card Services Representative must also embody Pelican’s Core Values and provide excellent service in all that they do.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CARD SERVICES REPRESENTATIVE INCLUDES:
- Monitor and respond to internal inbound inquiries regarding plastic cards in a timely manner
- Process and respond to member requests including, but not limited to, travel notifications, rush shipment requests, limit increases, merchant hold releases, card activation or deactivation, and closure requests
- Make outbound calls to cardholders regarding research requests and outstanding issues
- Process maintenance requests for debit and credit cards, such as setting up cards, blocking cards, removing blocks, rushing shipment requests and increasing daily limits
- Complete reports, tasks and projects as assigned with established guidelines and timelines
- Learn relevant card associated regulations pertaining to debit/credit cards, such as Visa Operating Rules and Regulations E and Z
- High school education or equivalent
- 1 year of experience in card operations, teller, and/or role in reviewing member’s financial accounts
- Excellent oral, written, and telephone communication skills
- Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and member service skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel
- Xperience or Symitar experience is a plus, but not required
- Work Schedule
- Monday – Friday
- 8:30 am – 5:30 pm
- Rotational 5 pm - 5:30 pm shift 1 - 2 days a week
- Travel
- Travel is rarely necessary for this position.
