As a Medical Referral Coordinator, you will be responsible for providing administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the medical office. You will support doctors and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization and communication. The target is to complete all activities accurately, with high quality and in a timely manner.
Schedule
Monday - Thursday: 8AM-5PM
Friday: 8AM-3PM
Responsibilities
- Process and manage referrals from primary care physicians to specialists.
- Verify that all necessary documentation and information accompany referrals.
- Act as a liaison between patients, providers, and specialists to facilitate appointments and ensure clear communication.
- Inform patients about the referral process, appointment details, and follow-up care instructions.
- Ensure that patients' medical records are accurate and up to date, and provide necessary information to specialists as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations regarding patient information.
- Verify insurance eligibility and coverage for services and coordinate pre-authorizations when required.
- Address any insurance-related issues or questions from patients or providers.
- Schedule patient appointments with specialists based on referrals and ensure that timeframes are met.
- Track and monitor the patient's progress post-referral, ensuring that follow-up appointments and care are adhered to.
- Stay updated on changes in healthcare policies, procedures, and regulations related to referrals and insurance processes.
Skills
- Proven working experience as a medical assistant or administrative medical role
- Knowledge of medical office management systems and procedures or medical referral processes
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
- Social perceptiveness and service oriented
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
