Summary:
Responsible for managing multiple commercial projects from the point of sale through final project close-out to maximize customer satisfaction, and project profitability. May contribute to project acquisition efforts in support of sales staff. Represent the PDSN organization across all project phases, with primary responsibility during the construction phase of commercial building projects including submittal preparation, product acquisition, installation, service, and preparation of final close-out documents.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (other duties may be assigned)
The responsibilities of this position often require the employee to maintain diplomacy during extremely difficult customer situations, while continuing to effectively represent Pella’s interests. The employee will be expected to exhibit the highest standard of personal ethics at all times and adhere to all corporate policies. Duties can be broadly understood to happen across the following project timeline.
Project Acquisition:
Candidate may be asked to perform administrative duties in support of the sales staff’s project acquisition strategies. Duties may include coordinating box lunches and trade shows, assisting with lead acquisition through lead services, and preparing promotional sales packages.
Provide technical assistance in support of the sales staff’s project acquisition strategies. Duties may include presenting product or installation technical data, providing product samples, and building or installing sample mock-ups.
Submittals:
Oversees shop drawing submittal process: Prepare submittals and all necessary work to order Pella products. Oversee revisions to shop drawings and update measurements.
Ordering/Take-off:
- Conduct an order review comparing a Sales Representative’s take-off against the project’s architectural plans and specifications ensuring compliance. Review any discrepancies with the sales staff. Review all bulletins and change order requests prior to bid submission or placing supplemental orders.
- Field measure projects when verification is required in support of take-off and ordering efforts.
- Coordinate the ordering of all material required from Pella and outside vendors in a manner that maximizes job profitability and maximizes inventory turns. Coordinate product ordering impact with our internal operations.
- Coordinate all product assembly, delivery, and installation to the customer’s expectations.
- Recognize potential site problems and identify solutions with on-site personnel and contractor. Visit project sites and meet with sub-contractors to identify installation requirements.
- Negotiates and writes purchase orders, or sub-contracts for other (non-Pella) product, reconciling all terms with bid proposal, contract and specifications
- Provide necessary in-house and field support for prospective and ongoing projects
- Coordinates deliveries and installation with customer and installer
- Identify solutions to unforeseen challenges that arise during the project cycle.
- Must attend project progress meetings
- Monitor project budget to ensure profitability.
- Works in tandem with Sales Representative, to ensure successful project completion
- Gives direction to the Sales Rep and or customer regarding RFI, change orders, and submittals
- Coordinate and manage sub-contracted labor.
Provide outstanding customer service, making deliveries and performing minor service when necessary.
Close-out
- Complete any special billing documentation and ensure all projects are invoiced promptly.
- Produce all close-out documentation required (service manuals, warranties, etc.)
- Manage service needs to complete project punch lists
Reports to the Commercial Fulfillment Manager
Qualifications:

- Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license and an excellent driving record.
Bachelor’s Degree in construction related field; or 5 years equivalent combination of education and experience in commercial construction. Specific experience in the fenestration industry a plus.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets construction contract documents including architectural drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and construction contracts. Ability to write field reports, business correspondence, and provide others direct instruction related to construction practices and procedures. Have the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
Have the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Possess the ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
