Job Title: Credit and Collections Manager

Job Overview:
We are seeking an energetic, positive, and results-driven Credit and Collections Manager to join our Finance team. The ideal candidate will take ownership of all aspects of credit and collections processes, demonstrating persistence and willingness to take on more responsibilities. This role requires an enthusiastic and detail-oriented professional with superb organizational skills. A precise and systematic approach, coupled with excellent Excel skills, will be crucial in managing the intricacies of credit and collections functions.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Credit Management:
  • Evaluate and establish credit limits for new and existing customers based on financial analysis and risk assessment, demonstrating a structured and methodical approach.
  • Develop and implement credit policies and procedures to optimize cash flow.
  • Review customer orders on a daily basis and release or put on hold as needed to enforce credit limits and collection.
2. Collections:
  • Manage the collections process, to ensure timely payment of outstanding invoices.
  • Formalize and execute the company's dunning process, adhering to industry’s best practices to ensure predictable and positive outcomes.
  • Analyze and resolve customer billing issues and disputes promptly and effectively, demonstrating ownership of the resolution process.
  • Review and approve AIA billing, lien waivers and releases, and maintain reconciliation between AIA and financial system AR records
3. Financing:
  • Own the relationship with financing companies, including monitoring credit usage, activation and deactivation of plans, and internal user support.
  • Support the Retail Segment in processing financed jobs with precision and attention to detail.
  • Maintain quarterly financing reporting and provide insightful analysis to upper management.
4. Leadership:
  • Collaborate effectively with various stakeholders internally and externally.
  • Foster a collaborative and results-oriented work environment, contributing to positive and energetic team culture.
5. Reporting and Analysis:
  • Generate regular reports on key credit and collections metrics with precision and error free.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, assess the effectiveness of credit policies, and make recommendations for improvement.
6. Other:
  • Crosstrain and serve as a backup for selected number of accounting team duties.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting. Advanced degree is a plus.
  • Professional certification (e.g. NACM) is strongly preferred.
2. Experience:
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in Credit Management and Collections, most of it in Construction industry, with a proven track record of success.
  • Experience with progress billing in Construction
  • Extensive prior involvement with pursuing Lien Rights in Maryland, Virginia, DC, Delaware and West Virginia
3. Analytical Skills:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to come to correct conclusions independently and make data-driven decisions.
4. Communication:
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to tailor the message based on the audience / situation, interact effectively with internal teams and external customers, and negotiate when needed.
    • Enthusiasm for “picking up the phone”, versus emailing and waiting for an answer
6. Technology:
    • Excellent Excel skills with ability to create and maintain complex reporting.
    • Proficient in use of ERP systems (Great Plains experience is a plus).
    • Competence in using credit check platforms such as Experian
