Job Summary
The HR Generalist will play a key role in supporting the HR department across multiple functions, including employee relations, compliance, benefits administration, talent acquisition, and HR operations. This role will provide guidance to employees and managers, ensuring compliance with company policies and state and federal labor laws. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple HR responsibilities in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Talent Acquisition & Onboarding:

  • Oversee the recruitment process, including job postings, resume screening, interview coordination, and candidate communication.
  • Prepare offer letters, conduct background checks, and ensure completion of pre-employment requirements.
  • Facilitate new hire orientation and onboarding to ensure a smooth transition for new employees.

Employee Relations & Compliance:

  • Serve as a primary contact for employee inquiries related to policies, benefits, and workplace concerns.
  • Provide guidance on employee relations matters, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions in compliance with California labor laws.
  • Maintain knowledge of employment law updates and ensure HR policies and procedures align with legal requirements, including CFRA, Paid Sick Leave, and wage transparency laws.
  • Assist in conducting workplace investigations, documenting incidents, and recommending resolutions.

HR Operations & Administration:

  • Process employee changes, terminations, and updates in HRIS systems.
  • Maintain and update employee records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with audits and reporting for compliance-related matters such as I-9, EEO, and OSHA.

Benefits & Compensation:

  • Assist employee benefits programs responding to employee inquiries.
  • Collaborate with payroll to ensure accurate benefits deductions and compliance with wage and hour laws.
  • Assist in compensation benchmarking and salary reviews to maintain competitive pay structures.

Training & Development:

  • Support the design and implementation of employee training programs related to compliance, performance management, and leadership development.
  • Assist with employee engagement initiatives to foster a positive work culture.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3-5 years of HR experience, preferably in a generalist capacity.
  • Strong understanding of California-specific labor laws and HR best practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and HRIS systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and handle confidential information with discretion.
  • HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) is a plus.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Office-based role with occasional travel for training or company events.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and work on a computer.
  • May require occasional lifting of office supplies or documents.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $33.00 - $35.00 per hour
