About the Role :

The Junior Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the accounting department in managing financial records, preparing reports, and assisting with month-end close activities. This role involves working closely with other departments, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with internal controls. The Junior Staff Accountant will also play a key role in facilitating audits, budgeting, and financial reporting for assigned properties.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in corporate accounting, ideally within real estate.
  • Strong proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Yardi) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities.
  • Responsibilities :

  • Financial Reporting and Reconciliation :
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports, ensuring they meet accuracy and timeliness standards.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring discrepancies are identified and resolved.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals and adjusting entries.
  • Month-End Close :

  • Support month-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate completion of tasks.
  • Assist with variance analysis, providing insights into budget vs. actual performance.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable :

  • Assist in verifying, allocating, and posting business transactions to subsidiary ledgers.
  • Compile reports on cash receipts, expenditures, and accounts receivable / payable.
  • Audit and Compliance :

  • Assist with both internal and external audits, ensuring documentation is audit ready.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and financial procedures.
  • Team Collaboration :

  • Collaborate with Asset Managers, Property Managers, and Business Managers to ensure smooth financial operations.
  • Assist in the preparation of operational and capital budgets, monitoring for compliance with company standards.
  • Additional Duties :

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Driving continuous improvement through enhanced standardization of processes and practices.
  • Skills :

    The required skills for this position, such as proficiency in Microsoft Excel, will be utilized daily to analyze financial data and create reports. A basic understanding of accounting principles will guide the candidate in performing accurate account reconciliations and managing financial transactions. Preferred skills, like experience with real estate accounting software, will enhance the candidate's ability to efficiently process invoices and manage accounts. Strong analytical skills will be essential for identifying discrepancies and supporting the budgeting process. Overall, both required and preferred skills will contribute to the candidate's effectiveness in maintaining the financial health of the organization.
