Job Summary: Pembroke Hill School is seeking a dynamic and passionate individual to fill the role of Middle and High School Librarian. We are a learning community committed to fostering a love of reading, research, and lifelong learning in our students. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative and forward-thinking librarian who can create an engaging and inclusive library environment for students in grades 6-12.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Master's degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) or equivalent.
- Experience working with middle and high school students preferred.
- Strong knowledge of library resources, technologies, and best practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to create and deliver engaging instruction and programs.
- Passion for promoting reading, literacy, and lifelong learning.
- Experience using Follett Destiny for collection maintenance and management
- Experience managing and analyzing database collections
- Experience with digital resources and online databases.
The Middle and High School Librarian will be responsible for the overall management and operation of the library, including:
- Developing and maintaining a diverse and relevant collection of print and digital resources.
- Providing instruction in information literacy, research skills, and digital citizenship.
- Collaborating with teachers to integrate library resources and services into the curriculum.
- Creating and implementing engaging programs and activities to promote reading and literacy.
- Managing the library budget and resources effectively.
- Maintaining a welcoming and inclusive library environment for all students.
- Supervising student library assistants (if applicable).
- Staying current with trends in library science and technology.
Schedule: This is a school year (August through May) position. During the school year, there are three school vacations – one week at Thanksgiving, two weeks in December, and two weeks in March – plus holidays, personal and sick days.
Compensation: Compensation will be based on a competitive norm influenced by area and peer schools, using years of teaching experience and the highest completed degree. Transcripts and verification of employment will be required. - Ability to climb stairs, walk, and occasionally run, if required
