Job Summary: Pembroke Hill School seeks a caring, growth-minded educator to join its early childhood team as a lead teacher. In partnership with a faculty assistant, the lead teacher builds community and encourages children to play, investigate, problem-solve, and construct new understandings in a welcoming, joyful environment.
Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education, our faculty and staff believe in an image of the child as capable, curious, and eager to learn and make sense of the world. Lead teachers engage families in meaningful ways, such as project work, guest experts, readers, and partners in children’s learning journey. They make the process of learning visible through a variety of documentation techniques.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field required.
- Minimum of 3 years teaching experience of children aged two through five is preferred.
- Embrace the philosophy of the Reggio Emilia Approach and Project Approach and a commitment to constructivism or progressive/experiential education. Previous experience is a strong plus.
- Strong oral, written, and digital communication skills.
- Digital skills include G-Suite, Microsoft, and iPadOS platforms
- Experience leading and directing a teaching assistant in the classroom and collaborating with a team is preferred

Schedule: The long-term sub will be needed from February through the end of the 2024-25 school year in May. During the school year, there are three school vacations – one week at Thanksgiving, two weeks in December, and two weeks in March – plus holidays, personal and sick days.
Compensation: Pay is $200 per day
