Position Summary
The Executive Director of Pendleton Place is directly responsible to the Board of Directors for the administrative and operational leadership of the organization. This includes providing timely, accurate communications regarding agency performance and health, contributing to and supporting the strategic plan, mitigating risk, supporting day-to -day program needs and operational needs, and maintaining effective staff organization and performance.
Essential Functions of Position
Daily Operations

- In coordination with the Board of Directors and Leadership staff, plan, direct, and be accountable for the daily operations of the organization.
- Oversee the adequacy and soundness of the organization’s financial structure.
- Oversee contracts and contract management.
- Manage and alleviate operational risk including those related to processes, labor, regulations, and brand identity.
- Ensure organizational integrity and alignment with mission, vision, and values.
- Develop projects in close coordination with other agency leaders.
- Provide direct supervision of the Executive Leadership team including hiring and training; provide supervisory oversight to staff in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Board of Directors

- Establish and maintain an effective system of communication throughout the organization and with the Board.
- Assist the Board officers and committees in planning and conducting Board meetings and other official meetings of the organization and attend as appropriate.
- Keep the Board informed on the conditions and operations of the agency.
- Support the Board in the onboarding and training of new Board members.
- Perform other duties as deemed necessary by the Board President or Board of Directors.
Fund Development and Community Relations

- Maintain the organization’s financial sustainability and community reputation effectively and with sound judgment and ensure an appropriate allocation of resources. Represent the organization with other non-profits, stakeholders, the funding community, and the public, including speaking engagements, interviews, and media requests.
- Participate in local, regional, and state level advocacy, including serving as a member of relevant workgroups, task forces etc. to advance the mission and goals of the organization.
- In coordination with Executive Leadership, establish short- and long-range goals for funding sources and directly solicit funds from individuals, community organizations, corporations, and foundations.
- Support the Executive Leadership with grants including writing, management, finances, and compliance as needed.
Execution of Strategic Initiatives

- Establish goals, objectives, initiatives and policies for the agency and resources as aligned with strategic plan; execute the strategic plan effectively and convene the Board for any major changes or adaptations.
- Provide advice, guidance, direction, and authorization to carry out project plans, standards, and procedures; major or new initiatives outside of the scope of the strategic plan must be approved by the Board.
- Review operating results of the organization, compare them to established objectives and benchmarked data, and take steps to ensure that appropriate measures are taken to correct unsatisfactory results.
Finance & Administration

- Ensure the organization operates responsibly within its approved budget and makes fiscally sound decisions; be accountable to the Board Finance Committee, the Treasurer, and the Board at large for the financial health of the organization.
- In coordination with the Director of Finance and the administrative team, oversee the organization’s vendor relationships, including benefit carriers and brokers, and maintain effective memorandums of agreement with all organizational partners.
- Serve as the senior point of contact (and signer, when applicable) for all necessary entities, including, but not limited to: the Council on Accreditation, the South Carolina Department of Social Services (licensing office and contract monitoring office), HUD, FYSB, the SC Secretary of State (charity registration and financial filings), SC DEW, Together SC, Alliance for Strong Families and Communities, attorneys serving subpoenas, and financial institutions.
