Marketing Manager, Children’s, DK (Hybrid) DK is seeking a creative, organized, and dynamic Children’s Marketing Manager to oversee title-specific marketing campaigns for both frontlist and backlist titles, with a focus on the children's list. This position will report directly to the Senior Director of Retail and Channel Strategy and will work with the larger Marketing and Publicity team. Collaborating with the Design, Editorial, and Publicity teams across DK and DK’s authors you will support marketing strategy by crafting and executing campaigns to target children’s book consumers, crossover readers, and parents and grandparents of readers. Working on our children’s list the marketing manager will have the opportunity to work on titles that will include Unparalleled series including The Anthology series and Eyewitness books; Licensing bestsellers from Rebel Girls, LEGO, Minecraft and more; Chapter books including Secret Explorers Club and bestselling preschool series including Pop Up Peek a Boo. The Marketing Manager will use their experience to develop and execute children’s marketing plans and strategy; building relationships with authors; collaborating with the publicity, digital, and education / library teams to create plans; working collaboratively with the Senior Director of Retail and Channel Strategy on managing the budget line; presenting at internal and external meetings; and extensive copywriting. The ideal candidate reads widely, communicates clearly, can work independently and collaboratively with ease, and is passionate about connecting nonfiction readers with our books. This in-office position has responsibilities such as attending author and agent meetings as well as team and strategy meetings. We will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance at least 2 days a week in our offices at 1745 Broadway, which includes the tri-state area (NJ, CT, & PA).   • Ideate, develop, and execute innovative marketing plans for titles and series based on market data and consumer trends, continuously updating plans on a regular basis.
  • Work with the marketing design team, to coordinate assets for campaigns and email content, utilizing project management tools such as Basecamp and Asana to organize and coordinate all digital assets
  • Collaborate with sales reps to create materials which support their efforts
  • Collaborate with US-based marketing and PR team members to shape overall title strategy and to execute larger initiatives
  • Collaborate with UK peers and, on occasion, work on global strategic title plans
  • Build and maintain relationships with external partners and licensors
  • Review and share post-mortem analysis of each measurable campaign for future opportunities
  • Communicate plans and strategies to in-house team, including publishing and sales
  • Plan and travel occasionally to represent DK at consumer and trade festivals
  • Manage a budget

The Essentials :

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in children’s marketing. Experience in book marketing or publishing a plus. Experience in children’s retail marketing a plus.
  • Self-motivated, able to prioritize, and can work independently as well as in a team
  • Creative thinker with an eye to developing campaigns and strategy
  • Strong communication, presentation and writing skills are essential
  • Knowledge of the consumer, trade and institutional markets, general book marketplace and trends
  • Ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Candidate should be proactive and exceptionally organized, able to meet deadlines
  • Candidate should exhibit excellent leadership and mentoring abilities
  • Willingness and ability to travel to various locations for consumer shows
  • The salary range for this position is $70,000 and $73,500. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
