Position Description
Main Purpose :
Responsible for service calls and work scheduling of services.
Schedules and dispatches workers, equipment, or vehicles as requests are received. Maintains logs, records and schedules of calls received, monitors resources and vehicles, etc.

Receive or prepare work ordersConfer with customers or supervising personnel in order to address questions, problems, and requests for service or equipment.Determine types or amounts of equipment, vehicles, materials, or personnel requiredSchedule and dispatch workers, work crews, equipment, or service vehicles to appropriate locations according to customer requests, specifications, or needsOrder supplies and equipment, and issue them to personnelArrange for necessary repairs in order to restore service and schedulesRelay work orders, messages, and information to or from work crews, supervisors, and field personnelAdvise personnel about traffic problems such as construction areas, accidents, congestion, weather conditions, and other hazardsPrepare daily work and run schedules.Maintain files or records of customer requestsOther duties as assigned by divisional leadership or senior dispatcherPosition Requirements
2-5 years related service dispatch experienceAbility to multitask while remaining detail orientedExpert knowledge of principles and methods for dispatching personnel and equipmentExpert knowledge of local thoroughfares, routes and surrounding areasProficient communication and organizational skills essentialAbility to type 65-70 WPM accurately and take dictationProfessional level position. Incumbent receives minimal guidance and supervisionUnion Labor Relations (as required) – basic principles of labor / management partnershipsComputer / Office Machines – Microsoft Work, Excel, OutlookEnglish – proficient in business writing and verbal communicationValid driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle record required when duties require use of motor vehicleAbility to pass pre-employment and random screening for illegal substancesKnowledge and accuracy in arithmetic importantPosition Instructions
