What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavioral Health Manager position at Peninsula Community Health Services?
The Behavioral Health Coordinator is responsible for coordination of services and performing administrative functions to support integrated services, operations and programs, including Behavioral Health (BH), Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT), Substance Use Disorder(SUD), and jail transitions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with and collaborate with key PCHS staff and BH, SUD, MAT partners to develop, implement, and/or upgrade systems that affect and/or enhance the BH Integrated program
- Collaborate with jail partners on facilitating transitions in care
- Manage the required workflow of the BH, SUD, and MAT Program including scheduling requirements, case management, pill counts, prompting providers to check Prescriptions Monitoring Program database, and ensuring urine drug screens are completed
- Lead and participate in the integrated programs quality improvement and quality collaborative initiative outcomes
- Monitor and make recommendations for patient care, patient tracking, patient records management, data collection and quality/risk management systems.
- Review, evaluate, and make recommendations to the appropriate program directors regarding personnel, workflow, systems, equipment, and performance standards
- Participate in grant related program activities
- Collaborate with stakeholders to design and enhance coordination of care activities
- Makes, executes, and exercises independent judgement about management policies within scope of job description
- Partner with all other coordinators and managers to ensure the successful operations of the organization
- Responsible for preparation and delivery of employee performance evaluations in a timely manner
- Attend staff meetings, in-service meetings and participate in agency committees or task force activities
- Familiar with using electronic health record (Ex. Athena)
- Other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position directly supervises the Nurse Care Manager, Data Collection Analyst, Nursing Assistants, and Behavioral Health Technicians.
Qualifications
- Two to five years of customer service experience (required)
- One to two years of directly related experience as a lead or supervisor (preferred)
- Valid driver’s license (required)
- Current medical assistant license (required)

Must have excellent communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team; to receive and respond well to feedback. Possess strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills; time-management and organizational skills, including being punctual, responsive, and efficient. Perform job with professionalism and good judgment.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
With multiple locations and settings, PCHS’ work environment and physical demands vary greatly depending on the employee’s role. Essential job functions include the following: The employee is required to talk, hear, see, smell, sit and stand. The employee is frequently required to move around the facility; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is frequently required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
