Job Description:
Penn Engineering is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented CMM Operator/Quality Inspector. The ideal candidate will have experience using the Hexagon CMM and a strong understanding of quality control processes. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and precision of products through the operation of the CMM, while adhering to strict quality standards. This position will report to the Quality Supervisor and may report to the Quality Manager in the future.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain the Hexagon CMM to inspect and measure parts, ensuring they meet specified quality standards.
- Perform routine calibration and maintenance of the CMM equipment.
- Familiarization with PC-DMIS parts inspection
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine inspection requirements.
- Knowledge of GD&T call outs
- Proficient in the use of manual inspection tools, calipers, mics, height gauges, etc.
- Document inspection results and generate reports for management review.
- Assist with troubleshooting and problem-solving when quality issues arise.
- Collaborate with the production team to identify and resolve quality concerns.
- Support the development of inspection plans and procedures.
- Follow all safety and quality standards while performing inspection tasks.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and inspection processes.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a CMM inspection role (2 years), with expertise in operating the CMM.
- Familiar with ANSI Y 14.5
- Solid understanding of quality control principles and measurement techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and precision.
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with quality management systems and documentation.
- Able to set-up and perform open surface plate inspection
- Proficient in interpreting GD&T
- Complete tasks with minimal supervision
- Ability to perform first articles, in-process, and final inspections, including reporting
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Certification in CMM operation or quality control (e.g., ASQ CQI or equivalent).

Pay: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour
