PennEngineering is seeking a motivated, excited, individual to be a part of PROFIL in Waterford, MI to lead HR for the MI business units. As the Director of Human Resources at PennEngineering, you'll collaborate with teams that do truly amazing things.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
The Director of Human Resources plays a vital role in our manufacturing plants helping drive business results, positively impact the P&L and be a strong business and culture leader. As a continuous improvement HR practitioner, you will help innovate and shape the culture of the plant by engaging the employees and management team, using data to inform decisions, and modeling our core values.


1. Strategic HR Planning:

  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the overall business objectives of the manufacturing unit.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to understand organizational goals and translate them into HR initiatives.
2. Talent Acquisition:
  • Facilitates the onboarding processes to ensure a positive experience for new hires.
  • Partners with Talent Acquisition to develop a comprehensive talent acquisition strategy that is aligned with the business goals to attract and retain skilled individuals in a competitive market including early talent programs and building/maintaining strong relationships with area schools.
  • Supports local recruitment efforts as needed.
3. Employee Relations:
  • Act as a point of contact for employee relations issues, providing guidance and resolution.
  • Implement policies and procedures that promote a positive and inclusive work culture.
  • Regularly seek opportunities to engage all levels of employee including those working in manufacturing plant.
4. Performance Management:
  • Partner with leaders to ensure fair and consistent evaluations.
  • Work with managers to identify and address performance issues and implement improvement plans.
5. Training and Development:
  • In conjunction with BU leadership, build and maintain an employee skillset and training programs to enhance the skills and capabilities of manufacturing personnel as needed.
  • Support career development initiatives in collaboration with the leadership team to foster employee growth and retention within the organization. This includes leading an annual Talent Review process with the plant leadership team.
  • In partnership with Compensation, support pay of performance system that aligns with the skillset matrix enabling employee growth and retention.
6. Safety:
  • Ensure the facility is safe, employees are trained, training is tracked appropriately.
  • Manage and investigate workers' compensation claims.
  • Participate in Safety Committee.
7. Continuous Improvement and Employee Engagement:
  • Lead the local HR team in implementing programs to help improve the employee experience. This includes partnering with Corporate HR teams on Employer of Choice initiatives.
  • Oversee and coordinate employee milestone anniversary program.
  • Develop and implement initiatives to enhance employee engagement and satisfaction.
  • Foster a positive work environment that aligns with the company's values and business objectives.
  • Participate in ongoing development, communication and implementation of new programs and policies.
8. HR Metrics and Analytics:
  • Utilize HR metrics and data analytics to assess the effectiveness of HR programs and make informed decisions.
  • Provide regular key HR reports and insights to senior management.
9. Compliance:
  • Stay updated on relevant labor laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Including but not limited to FMLA, ADA, EEOC, MIOSHA, Environmental regulations, HIPAA and other federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Coordinate administration of unemployment benefits
10. Team Leadership:
  • Coaches and mentors HR team. Delegates work and holds team accountable.
  • Collaborates with Corporate HR team to align priorities and support for the local business/plant.
Requirements:
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources is preferred, bachelor's degree in related field is required, SPHR, SHRM-SCP is strongly desired.
  • 10 years' experience in human resources is required, a focus on manufacturing or industrial environments is highly preferred, minimum 5 years managing an HR team.
  • Strong knowledge of HR Best Practices, employment laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrated experience using HCM systems on a daily basis to view, edit and pull reports is required
  • A strategic thinker who can balance the needs of employees with the day-to-day demands of a fast-paced manufacturing plant.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive change and build a performance culture.
  • Demonstrated ability as an operational HR leader; high say/do ratio, identifying needs, setting plans and executing, understanding HR data, and driving decisions using data.
  • Ability to influence at varying levels across the organization.
  • Ability to successfully navigate in a matrixed environment.
  • Sense of urgency and ability to prioritize.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
