POSITION SUMMARY:
Athletic Trainers (ATs) work under the supervision of a physician to provide injury prevention, clinical evaluation and diagnosis, immediate and emergency care, treatment and rehabilitation, while demonstrating professional and organizational skills to promote the health and well-being to the patients they serve. They may work in the clinic or outreach setting at the highest level of their licensure and conduct themselves in accordance with the professional standards set forth by the BOC and Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health Physicians.

They may work in the clinic or outreach setting at the highest level of their licensure and conduct themselves in accordance with the professional standards set forth by the BOC and Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health Physicians.
Essential Functions:
Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without accommodation) to perform the following duties:
- Ensure that athletic training services are accessible, cost-effective, high-quality manner while in compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Perform physical examinations on patients using objective measures and develop treatment goals based off their evaluation. ATs will work closely and collaborate with all members of the Sports Medicine team; including but not limited to, physicians, APPs, athletic trainers, physical therapists, etc. to determine that the best plan of care is developed and performed.
- Maintain accurate documentation in patient records. Monitor and evaluate response to intervention, modify treatment plan in agreement with physician. Follows billing and reimbursement procedures according to departmental and regulatory guidelines.
- Provide athletic training coverage to summer physicals, wrestling and soccer tournaments (at minimum) annually. ATs will have the opportunity to cover other local races, sporting events, physicals, marketing events, etc. to help promote the program's mission and brand.
- Place orders (XR, PT, US, etc.) under the direction of supervising physician.
- Administer pre- and post-injury neurocognitive concussion examinations.
- Maintain accurate employee timecard records and appropriate work schedule.
- Maintain compliance with required Knowledge Link modules and annual clinical competencies.
- Attend and actively participate in mandatory staff meetings.
- Clinic specific responsibilities (may vary based on position):
- Responsible for pre-visit planning (reviewing medical records prior to appointment) and ensuring all pertinent information is available and orders are placed/completed prior to patient’s visit with provider.
- Perform physical examinations on patients and presents findings to provider in concise manner.
- Assist provider with Diagnostic or Procedural Ultrasound, and withinjections/proceduresas needed.
- Develop prescriptive home exercise programs for patients.
- Provide bracing, splinting, casting, and DME fitting and instruction for patients.
- Assist with management of in-basket and patient phone calls and other administrative tasks as needed.
- Be comfortable prepping and assisting in a sterile procedural environment.
- Outreach specific responsibilities (may vary based on position):
- Provide immediate and/or urgent care to sports-related injuries. Perform physical examinations of injury or illness and recommend plan of care as appropriate.
- Determines diagnosis of injury and develops an appropriate rehabilitation plan to assist in recovery. Provides instruction of appropriate form for rehabilitation exercises and/or lifting techniques.
- Assist with scheduling and coordination of on-site school physicals.
- Work with athletic director to determine budget; maintains adequate equipment and supply inventory to provide safe and high-quality care to student-athletes.
- Coordinate educational presentations and/or screenings for school community. Works with Sports Nutritionist to provide nutritional education and counseling to student athletes as needed.
- Will help identify opportunities, build relationships with, and help secure additional secondary school, college, youth program, and/or event contracts.
- Review quality and appropriateness of services delivered for effectiveness and efficiency using predetermined quality assurance criteria.
- Act as liaison between customers, patients, support staff and/or physicians.
- Responsible for wound care and wound dressing.
- Help maintain a clean, comfortable, orderly and safe working environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Graduate of CAATE approved Athletic Training Program.
- Master’s Degree required; unless employee graduated prior to 2022
- BOC Certified
- Maintains valid PA State Athletic Training license
- Maintains CPR Healthcare/BLS certification.
- Maintains CEU requirements to stay in compliance with BOC requirements
- Maintains valid Driver’s License
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Able to effectively communicate with peers and leaders within the practice, health system, and community.
- One (1) year of experience in traditional setting.
- Clinical experience in outpatient office.
