Summary
Sets up power press to trim, punch, shape, notch, draw, or crimp metal by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assembles, installs, and aligns dies in press according to specifications.
- Adjusts ram stroke to specified length.
- Perform minor die maintenance such as changing of sections, adjusting angles, cleaning, etc.
- Positions work piece against fixtures or stops on machine bed or on die.
- Starts press and observes operation to detect misalignment or malfunction.
- Inspects work pieces for conformance to specifications and adjusts machine to correct errors.
- Cleans and lubricates machines.
- Sets up auxiliary equipment such as reel stands, straightener, shaker, etc.
- Evaluate set-ups to ensure customer specifications are met.
- Monitor process settings, parameters and outputs.
- Monitor operator process and quality documentation.
- Monitor tool condition.
- Assist in training new operators.
- Monitor scrap and defects.
- Understands and follows the appropriate lock out / tag out procedures for each press.
- Follow all safety procedures and programs.
- May operate press to meet customer requirements.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
