Summary
We are looking for a highly skilled Propellant Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. This role will primarily involve hands-on processing of energetic materials, with a focus on casting and curing propellant within motor cases and integrating them into final motor packages. The ideal candidate will have experience with propellant formulation, manufacturing processes, and safe handling of energetic materials. Expertise in test analysis (propellant ballistics) and motor design is highly desirable.
Responsibilities

Oversee and execute propellant mixing, casting, and curing processes.

Ensure accurate loading and integration of propellant into motor cases.

Collaborate with design and test teams to optimize propellant performance and integration.

Support motor development, qualification, and production activities.

Analyze test data and ballistic performance to validate propellant characteristics.

Develop and improve manufacturing processes, tooling, and automation to enhance efficiency and safety.

Implement and monitor inspection and process control methods, ensuring consistency with specifications.

Use non-destructive testing (NDT), dimensional inspections, and chemical analysis to verify propellant quality.

Ensure adherence to safety regulations, quality standards, and industry best practices.

Troubleshoot processing issues, defects, and performance anomalies.
Education and Experience

B.S. or M.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

Typically 5 years of experience in propellant processing, manufacturing, or related energetic materials fields.

Hands-on experience with casting, curing, and motor integration.

Strong understanding of energetic materials handling, safety procedures, and quality control.

Experience with inspection techniques, process validation, and statistical process control (SPC) in propellant manufacturing.

Knowledge of propellant chemistry, performance modeling, and testing.

Familiarity with instrumentation, test setups, and data acquisition for propulsion testing.

U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a DoD SECRET clearance.
