Summary

Position Summary

Oversees Heyco’s Quality Management System by ensuring all processes and documentation align with the company’s Quality Policy and objectives. Leads regulatory compliance efforts, maintaining adherence to ISO 9001, UL, CSA, and VDE standards while coordinating all product submissions. Serves as primary liaison for environmental compliance regulations, including but not limited to REACH, RoHS, Prop 65, PFAS, and CMRT. Manages a small team of highly skilled personnel and supervises all quality lab testing operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develops and enforces quality requirements, ensuring adherence to ISO 9001standards, maintaining certification, and managing all internal and external quality audits.
  • Supports concurrent engineering efforts by reviewing product designs for manufacturability, ensuring compliance with engineering principles, company quality standards, and customer contract requirements.
  • Manages customer complaints and corrective and preventive action processes, utilize an analytical data driven approach to identify the true root cause of product and process failures to prevent recurrence and achieve corporate objectives.
  • Serves as the primary Quality Assurance resource to department supervisor(s) for problem identification, resolution, loss reporting and continuous improvement. Institutes policies and procedures across functions to ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Designs and implements methods for process control, process improvement, testing and inspection.
  • Promotes and executes quality standards, inspection processes, test methodology, quality plans, documents and reports.
  • Reviews customer and supplier purchase orders, contracts and change requests as needed to ensure that the necessary criteria and provisions are included in quality and process plans.
  • Acts as contact person for customer’s quality requirements, including IMDS requests, First Article Inspections (FAIs), material reviews, certification of components and regulatory standards.
  • Prepares first part approval (FPA), production part approval process (PPAP) and other related submission packages as required.
  • Serves as the Quality Assurance representative to the Materials Review Board (MRB).
  • Establishes in-process product inspection standards by studying manufacturing methods and procedures and standards for disposition of finished product.
  • Establishes quality and reliability standards by studying product and customer requirements with members of management and with production operators, technicians and engineers.
  • Develops and analyzes statistical data and product specifications to determine present standards and establish quality and reliability expectancy of finished product.

Requirements

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree (Engineering preferred) or equivalent; or eight to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. ISO 9001 Internal or Lead Auditor Certification required (IATF 16949 experience will be considered). Experience with regulatory submissions required (UL, CSA preferred).

DESIRED QUALIFICIATIONS Familiarity with associated industry tools, such as: DMAIC, Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience/certification. ASQ CQE or CMQ/OE certification is a plus. Experience with UL, CSA, and VDE regulations and test methods is a huge plus.

LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and employees.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal

with several abstract and concrete variables.

WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Anytime that the employee is in the plant, he/she is required to follow all safety rules and procedures including, but not limited to, using required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
