At the forefront of medical discovery as it relates to understanding the causes of obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer and dementia, Pennington Biomedical Research Center is a campus of Louisiana State University and conducts basic, clinical and population research. The Center includes Basic Science, Clinical Research, and Population and Public Health, enabling both focused research and translational science. Research at Pennington Biomedical is supported broadly by multiple NIH Research Centers , and includes approximately 65 faculty and 20 postdoctoral fellows who comprise a network of 44 laboratories and 13 highly specialized core service facilities. Pennington Biomedical Research Center , a world-renowned academic research institute of Louisiana State University, is seeking a Clinical Research Data Coordinator for the Greaux Healthy initiative.

Pennington Biomedical's Greaux Healthy initiative aims to grow healthier generations by expanding the access and reach of Pennington Biomedical’s evidence-based practices for the prevention and treatment of childhood obesity.

The Data Coordinator will be responsible for the development and maintenance of datasets generated by the Greaux Healthy initiative. The data coordinator will utilize data management tools to assist staff and investigators in retrieving, managing, and creating datasets from primary data collection and publicly available datasets. The data coordinator will also provide statistical consultation and perform data analysis for Greaux Healthy program evaluations. This position will require occasional in-state travel.

Major Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain database management systems.
  • Ensure operation and maintenance of systems for data organization, collection, retrieval, and reporting.
  • Ensure data accuracy and compliance.
  • Develop and maintain data dictionaries and database maps.
  • Develop methods for tracking and reporting data.
  • Implement, document, and verify the accuracy of data extractions and analyses.
  • Assist with data analysis, including programming, retrieval, and cleaning.
  • Research and collect information for external data marts.
  • Provide statistical consultation to staff and investigators.
  • Travel to off-campus sites as needed to provide data-related support.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Biostatistics, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in database management/data analysis working SPSS, SAS, or other statistical software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Note: Associate’s degree with 5 or more years of experience in database management/data analysis working SPSS, SAS, or other statistical software can be substituted for the required qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in database management/data analysis working SPSS, SAS, or other statistical software.
  • At least one year of clinical research experience.
  • Experience with the REDCap data collection system.
  • Knowledge of epidemiologic, biostatistical, and clinical research methods.
