What are the responsibilities and job description for the DATA & RESEARCH ANALYST position at State of Louisiana?
The Board of Regents is established in the Louisiana Constitution as the state’s coordinating board for higher education, working with four management boards, 32 public degree-granting institutions, and four special-purpose institutions. The BoR sets statewide policy related to higher education; advocates for higher education systems and institutions; distributes state-provided funding in accordance with legislative actions; and administers granting programs related to the advancement of the missions of postsecondary education systems and institutions. The Board of Regents contains three programs which include the Board of Regents, the Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance (LOSFA), and the Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium (LUMCON).
POSITION OVERVIEW:
This is a mid-level technical administrative research position requiring various information technology, systems analysis, database management and research methodology skills. The Data and Research Analyst will provide analytical support for the Regents’ statewide data reporting network as well as research and analysis of higher education policy and procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related analytical field.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate degree with programming coursework.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Minimum 2 years of experience with SQL/TSQL.
- Advanced integration skills with Microsoft Office and databases.
- Proficiency in database management and conventions.
- Expertise in statistical methods and research.
- Ability to document technical processes.
- Understanding of higher education policies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Prior experience in higher education institutions or system offices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential and other important duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Support leadership with systematic, comprehensive analyses and strategic initiatives.
- Produce technical reports, summaries, and studies to inform policy.
- Ensure institutional/statewide data aligns with national and regional standards.
- Develop ad hoc and production reports for stakeholders.
- Assist in the maintenance of systems for Workforce Validated Skills and Learning data.
- Experience with data visualization tools for public use.
- Flexibility to adapt to additional tasks as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
