Job Description:
Pennington Biomedical Research Center, a world-renowned academic research institute of Louisiana State University, is seeking a Postdoctoral Training Program Manager with the Division of Scientific Education.
The Postdoctoral Training Program Manager is a key member of the Division for Scientific Education, responsible for the design, implementation, and oversight of the T32 training curriculum and other NIH-sponsored training grants. This role involves developing and managing postdoctoral and student onboarding activities, performing quality audits to evaluate postdoctoral policies and processes, and overseeing the Independent Development Plan (IDP) process for postdoctoral fellows. The Program Manager will also provide support and administration for various grant programs, including the Pennington/Louisiana Nutrition Obesity Research Center and the LA Clinical and Translational Sciences Center, ensuring the effective execution of faculty enrichment programs.
Major Responsibilities
Design, develop, and implement comprehensive postdoctoral training programs tailored to the center's research goals and fellows' needs.
Facilitate effective mentor-mentee relationships, providing guidelines and training for mentors, and regularly evaluating mentorship effectiveness.
Oversee the creation and delivery of training curricula, including workshops, seminars, and courses, ensuring alignment with NIH guidelines and standards.
Manage the onboarding process for new postdoctoral fellows, including orientation sessions and integration into the research community.
Provide career guidance and support, including the development of Individual Development Plans (IDPs) and organizing career development workshops and seminars.
Conduct regular evaluations and audits of postdoctoral training programs to ensure quality and compliance with institutional and funding agency standards.
Assist in the preparation and management of training-related grants, including progress reports, budget oversight, and coordination of grant-related activities.
Maintain and enhance scientific communication channels, including newsletters, reports, and presentations for both internal and external audiences.
Foster collaborations with other research institutions, industry partners, and funding agencies to enhance training opportunities and program visibility.
Organize and manage events such as symposiums, conferences, and networking sessions to promote professional development and community building among postdoctoral fellows.
Develop and implement policies and procedures related to postdoctoral training and career development, ensuring compliance with institutional, federal, and funding agency regulations.
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences, Life Sciences, or a related field.
Completed postdoctoral training.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in postdoctoral training program management or a related role within a biomedical research environment.
Familiarity with NIH guidelines and other relevant standards for postdoctoral training.
Experience in scientific communication and public outreach.
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with postdoctoral fellows, faculty, and external partners.
In-depth understanding of postdoctoral training requirements and best practices.
Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive training environment.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
Proven track record of designing and implementing training programs for postdoctoral fellows.
Experience in grant writing and management, including NIH-sponsored training grants.
Proficiency in curriculum development and educational program design.
Ability to conduct quality audits and evaluations of training programs.
Knowledge of career development strategies and mentorship practices.
Strong leadership and mentorship abilities.
