What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Dining Host/Hostess position at PennState Hershey Medical Center?
Looking to join a dymanic team of hard-working dedicated individuals? We are currently hiring full time patient dining host/hostesses at Penn State Milton Hershey Hospital. Experience with patient forward meal delivery and order taking preferred. Shift is 11 am - 7:30 pm with alternating weekends and holidays.
Assist patients with meal selections at bed-side reviewing/correcting choices and passing diet information along to patients per prescribed diet. Responsible for the delivery and pick-up of patient trays, special requests, and needs in-between food delivery. Serve as a liaison between Nursing, Food Services, and the patient.
Responsibilities ESSENTIAL DUTIES- The percentage of time spent performing essential functions is 95%. Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:
- Discuss menu with patients, take menu orders from patients all while exhibiting a friendly demeanor.
Serve as a liaison between Nursing, Food Services, and the patient. Communicates and interacts directly with patients, family members, staff, nursing personnel, and physicians to provide appropriate service to patients.
Coordinate and assemble patient meal trays, according to menu/diet request.
Deliver to and retrieve trays to and from patient's rooms after meals and return them to the kitchen. Respond to special requests from patients. Input data into patient's diet information system.
Enter patient meal choices and information into electronic system.
Clean and sanitize food related areas and equipment as needed according to Food Service policy and practice.
Communicate unresolved customer complaints to manager or supervisor.
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES- The percentage of time spent performing secondary functions is 5%. The following duties are considered secondary to the essential duties listed above: Perform other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES- Ability to read and interpret documents required. Ability to understand basic hospital clinical abbreviations required. Ability to calculate basic math formulas required. Basic computer skills required.
Other Information MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S): Six (6) months of hospitality and/or diet related experience required. PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S): Experience understanding and dealing with therapeutic diets in a hospital setting preferrered.
