What are the responsibilities and job description for the District Office - Intern/Temporary position at Pennsylvania House of Representatives, Democratic Caucus?
The Democratic Caucus is looking for interns who want to learn more about the legislative process and want to be a part of a hardworking team, dedicated to serving the citizens of the state of Pennsylvania. This is a great internship for students in Government, Political Science, Public Affairs/Administration and Law.
Internship sessions are available for summer 2025. Paid internships are 10 weeks in length. Interns will work 20 hours per week.
This position is 100% onsite and is not eligible for Telework.Learning opportunities will include:
- Responding to constituent inquiries.
- Performing online research in order to draft outgoing constituent correspondence.
- Drafting responses to incoming constituent correspondence.
- Filing and retrieving contact lists and information, files, documents and reference material.
- Organizing and being present during external events.
- Representing the State Representative at events as requested, including outdoor fairs.
- Performing work-related duties as assigned.
Successful interns will possess:
- Ability to listen and problem solve in order to fulfill constituent requests.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from constituents, colleagues, and the Representative.
- Ability to come with ideas to aid in planning and organizing events.
- Ability to get along with others and work effectively as a team player.
- Ability to complete tasks in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to follow instructions given in written and verbal form.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and conduct responsibilities in a professional manner consistent with House ethics, recognizing the sensitivity of information shared in the office.
- At least 18 years of age.
