SUMMARY
Responsible for sourcing and purchasing all the company's noncapital needs; to include but not limited to all computer equipment, office, factory and operating supplies, MRO items, raw materials, products for resale and services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Under direction where definite objectives are established, use a specialized knowledge of purchasing practices and company policy to acquire company's non-capital needs considering quality, cost, quantity and delivery time to meet the operations of the company.
Reviews production schedules and related information and confers with department supervisors to determine material requirements to identify overdue materials and to track material.
Sources material and establishes sequential delivery dates to departments, according to job order priorities and material availability.
Review all open requisitions for status of order and disposition in a timely fashion.
Review all quotes and determine appropriate vendor.
Contact vendors for the status of open quotes and follow through on completion of quote process.
Develop and maintain approved vendor list in accordance with Q.A. guidelines.
Continuously obtain and maintain current data on current prices.
Enter purchase order and sourcing information into the computer.
Prepare status reports as needed.
Respond to receipts of nonconforming goods and take appropriate action to assure compliance.
Determines appropriate delivery method and selects carriers.
Arranges inter-plant transfer of materials to meet production schedules.
Compiles and maintains manual or computerized records such as material inventory, in process production reports, and status and location of materials.
Resolves discrepancies between Purchasing contract and vendor invoice and performs maintenance work on purchase orders through the computer as needed.
Perform maintenance work on purchase orders through the computer as needed.
Consult catalogs and interview suppliers to obtain prices and specifications.
Prepare and submit reports, documents and records required by company policy.
Operate computers, calculator, and usual office equipment.
Observe all company policies and regulations including safety, housekeeping and quality of work.
Utilize individually and/or further the use of total quality concepts, tools and techniques to support continuous quality improvement in all processes in which the position participates.
Perform other duties as requested or necessary to meet business conditions and changes.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE – High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
LANGUAGE SKILLS - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to negotiate with vendor to create mutually satisfying contracts.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
