What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hammer Operator position at Pennsylvania Machine Works?
1 Roles & Responsibilities
Tends the power hammer that forges metal stock
Moves the levers to control the force and frequency of hammer blows to shape the forging
Assist in setting and adjusting the hammer control valves, tighten packing, replacing hammer rod, piston rings & piston, adjust guides & wedges
For this position, day-to-day responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to:
1. Works closely with entire forging crew
2. Follows directions of the Blacksmith

Performs general maintenance on forging equipment
2 Desired Requirements
Must be able to operate a forklift and lifting devices
Must be able to communicate in English (both written and oral) as it relates to the job
Must possess agility and good depth perception
Must be able to read and understand work orders, drawings, and other written instructions
Must have the ability to manage a range of priorities, sometimes under pressure
