POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Shipping and Material Coordinator will be responsible for efficiently handling the receipt, preparation, and shipment of pieces, as well as managing various materials necessary for transformer production. This role requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Receive and Prepare Pieces for Shipment:
- Receive incoming pieces and materials for transformers.
- Prepare pieces for shipment according to company standards and shipping requirements.
- Ensure proper packaging and labeling of items for safe transport.
- Separate and Label Specific Materials for Transformers:
- Identify and separate specific materials required for transformers (e.g., gaskets, special hardware, nameplates, etc.).
- Label materials accurately for easy identification and access during production.
- Create Material Lists, Packing Lists, and Bill of Ladings:
- Generate material lists detailing the components required for each shipment.
- Prepare packing lists to ensure all items are accounted for during shipment.
- Create an accurate bill of ladings for outgoing shipments.
- Print Labels for Control Wiring:
- Print and label control wiring components according to specifications.
- Ensure proper labeling for efficient assembly and installation.
- Request or Order General Requirements:
- Assist with requests for general office requirements such as lunch, coffee, office supplies, etc.
- Assist with order placement with suppliers as necessary to maintain adequate stock levels.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently under pressure.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including MS Office suite and shipping software.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certifications in logistics or related fields is a plus.
- Proven experience in a shipping, logistics, or materials coordination role.
- Familiarity with engineering drawings and technical specifications.
PHYSICAL JOB DEMANDS
- Lifting and Carrying: The ability to lift and carry packages, materials, and equipment weighing up to a certain amount, which could range from 25 to 50 pounds or more, depending on the job demands.
- Standing and Walking: The job may involve prolonged periods of standing and walking, especially when receiving, inspecting, and preparing items for shipment.
- Bending and Stooping: The need to bend, stoop, and reach to access items, inspect materials, and organize shipments within storage areas and shipping zones.
- Pushing and Pulling: Handling carts, pallet jacks, and other equipment for moving materials and packages within the facility.
- Manual Dexterity: The ability to manipulate small objects, tools, and equipment for labeling, packaging, and organizing materials accurately.
- Use of Tools and Equipment: Operating machinery, such as printers, label makers, and computer systems, may be required. Familiarity with hand tools for packaging and assembly tasks might also be necessary.
- Safety Awareness: Adhering to safety protocols and using personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary to prevent injuries and maintain a safe work environment.
- Physical Stamina: The job may involve physical tasks performed repetitively throughout the day, requiring good overall physical stamina and endurance.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Monday through Friday and overtime or weekends may be required.
