The Peer Support Specialist (PSS) will provide peer-based recovery support services to individuals in crisis. The PSS will utilize their personal experience with recovery to foster hope, build resilience, and support individuals in achieving their recovery goals. The role requires a commitment to trauma-informed care, cultural competence, and adherence to CARF and CCBHC standards.
Job Responsibilities include:
1) Provide mobile crisis peer support services to individuals experiencing mental health or substance use crises by drawing on lived experiences to establish trust and rapport.
2) Work collaboratively with Mobile Crisis team members to deliver crisis interventions and care coordination, This includes de-escalating crises, developing safety plans, stabilizing situations, and improving individuals' functioning to prevent unnecessary hospitalizations, Emergency Department visits, or legal consequences.
3) Assist individuals in identifying recovery goals and developing individualized recovery plans that promote stability and resilience.
4) Support clients by addressing transportation barriers, including transporting or arranging transportation to appointments and services that sustain outpatient care and recovery.
5) Assist clients with navigating systems of care, including law enforcement, hospitals, and community-based organizations, to ensure appropriate linkage and follow-up.

7) Provide advocacy for individuals in crisis to ensure their voices are heard and their needs are addressed.
8) Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services provided in compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
9) Engage in ongoing professional development and training to enhance skills in peer support, trauma-informed care, and crisis intervention.
10) Participate in the Pennyroyal Center Crisis Response Team to support community crisis situations as needed.
11) Work an alternate schedule as needed to meet program needs.
12) Other duties as required/assigned.
Requirements for this position include:
High School diploma or equivalent. Must complete a Kentucky-approved Peer Support Specialist (PSS) Certification training and pass the certification exam within six months of hire. Ongoing supervision is required per 908 KAR 2:220 Peer Support Specialist regulations.
Starting Pay Range: 13.25
Full-Time Hourly
Must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and present proof of automobile insurance.
Must pass a Criminal Record Check and Sexual Offender Registry check.
Must have present proof of a recent (less than a 1-year-old) TB skin test.
