Job Title
A clinical information systems support specialist is required to work in a full-time, 32 hour per week, day shift position.
The hourly rate for this role is non-exempt and non-union.
Scope of Work
This role involves supporting nurses and medical providers with technology, planning, coordinating, and facilitating education on computer applications and software for all user groups.
The successful candidate will develop and train user groups in clinical computer applications and documentation processes, and serve as a resource for daily operative issues with the hospital's clinical systems application.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducts and facilitates computer applications training.
- Provides computer orientation training and Information Systems updates.
- Assesses, plans, develops, implements, and evaluates employee and departmental educational programs for staff.
- Conducts annual educational needs survey.
- Maintains a detailed understanding and working knowledge of Information Systems.
- Establishes and maintains close working relationships with IS Director and support staff.
- Maintains attendance records for education sessions.
- Maintains a close working relationship with nursing staff and medical providers as a daily resource for IS technical support.
- Speaks clearly with management and Information Systems teams to assess goals and progress towards those goals for the electronic medical record.
- Serves as an educator and resource to medical staff and ancillary personnel.
- Works with the Quality Department to perform infection control data collection and participates/leads IT-related quality improvement projects.
- Leads software upgrade projects and tests updates prior to upgrades.
- Maintains updates of software programs managed at the local level.
- Collaborates with leaders of other departments to ensure required updates are completed in computer software programs utilized by the facility.
Quality Improvement
This role actively participates in the Hospital-wide Quality Improvement Program and supports Department-specific Quality improvement initiatives and projects.
The successful candidate will recommend process improvements, report any quality issues in service delivery, and commit to a focus on quality improvement and organizational excellence.
Emergency Preparedness
This role has an inherent responsibility to care for community members in need.
The incumbent will participate in emergency/disaster preparedness planning and drills as requested, and will be expected to participate in the Hospital's response to a real-life disaster/emergency event within their scope of professional and personal ability.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field.
- At least two years of experience.
- Ability to problem solve and critical thinking skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Prior experience with computer systems.
- Willingness to continually gain and improve computer skills.
