What are the responsibilities and job description for the Logistics Manager position at Pentagon Technologies?
Job Summary:
Logistics Manager is aligned with Pentagon Technologies supply chain group, and responsible to administrate the shipping and receiving of all inbound and outbound shipments across the business groups. Manage communication channels with carriers, suppliers, custom brokers, and all parties involved with the daily shipping and delivery of products and services extended to customers.
Assist Supply Chain development of logistical operations procedures, support development of TMS, (Total Management Systems) integrating new software, and spearhead implementation plans including training across the business units.
Develop KPI(s) to track and report monthly freight activities, and identify initiatives to reduce cost, miss-shipments, incorrect carrier selections, and increase overall shipping accuracy
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist Supply Chain development and Implementation of logistics processes and policies
- Standardized shipping routes (Drivers Manifest)
- Integrated software solutions
- Standardized record keeping (Freight Invoices, Bill of Lading, Packing List, Dock Receipts, International Records)
- KPI(s) that are essential to the business
- Determine efficient and cost-effective methods for both inbound and outbound freight
- Recommend and/or develop standardize packaging methods, that will reduce both materials and unnecessary dimensional weight cost.
- Main point of contact for all logistical inquires for both internal and external customers
- Work cross functionally with Purchasing, Suppliers, Operations, Regulatory (EH&S) and External Customers if required.
- Daily execution of logistics task
- Review all freight invoices, dispute all billing errors, and report adjustments to both supply chain and accounting.
- Assist negotiating shipping rates, and updating internal routing guides
- Ability to travel both US and International if required
International Freight:
- Verify all export documents adhere to customs regulations
- Establish standardized exporting documents, assist and/or facilitate the clearance of shipments through customs via Pentagons’ approved brokers
- Maintain records of goods, commercial invoices, POA (Power of Attorney), certificate of origin, and all required documents
Qualifications:
- Strong verbal and written communication, analytical, organizational and customer service skills
- Ability to prioritize projects and complete deadlines
- Manage and motivate remote locations and various individuals to work together to achieve shared goals
- Understanding warehouse management, strategic planning, shipping regulations including DOT, International Trade Administration (Incoterms), RMA’s and commercial carriers’ duration of transportation zones
- Experience and knowledge in Freight Forwarding, Including international freight and ocean liner regulations
- Experience in customer service and/or supply chain logistics functions
- Moderate level of computer literacy (MS Office, FileMaker Pro, Logistics Tracking Systems (TMS).
- Associates degree preferred, High school diploma or adequateyears of experience is acceptable
- 3-5 years’ minimum experience is required for eligibility
- Ability to follow instructions and enforce policies
- Willing to work the required time that is needed to fulfill the daily work task. Overtime and occasional traveling to remote facilities

- Ability to lift up to 35lbs, and conform to Pentagon safety policies
