Sr. Engineer, Mechanical

We have an opportunity for a Senior Engineer, Mechanical to join our Apex, NC team. You will focus on sustainable enjoyment of water through design of pool pad products. We work on a wide range of IoT based product lines that help make pool maintenance and upkeep easy and effortless for our customers. Our site houses a state-of-the-art test lab for design testing and validation, and we work hand in hand with our manufacturing counterparts across North America to bring products to life.

You will:

• Lead large-scale new product development projects where innovative technologies are needed to provide solutions.
• Actively leverage and deploy cross-functional team members to design and implement those technologies.
• Support production operations as required through best-in-class design for manufacturing practices.
• Actively facilitate and encourage a cross-functional team on experimentation and smart risk-taking to optimize project timelines.
• Develop and implement innovative designs for Pentair's products.
• Lead and mentor others in the design of plastic parts (emphasis on plastic injection molded part design) and metal parts.
• Support development of product specification and technical requirements documents.
• Meet with vendors and suppliers to review part and product technical requirements.

Key Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or master's degree in mechanical engineering
• >10 years of experience (preferably)
• Design and development focus with experience/knowledge of pumps, pressure vessels, hydraulics, or water treatment a plus.
• Proficiency with CAD programs required (SolidWorks is preferred).
• Extensive knowledge of GD&T required.
• Electromechanical systems design and development expertise required.
• Experience with linear and non-linear FEA required. CFD skills are preferred.
• Demonstrated design for manufacturing/assembly experience.
• Proven thought leader with the ability to translate ideas into action steps.
• Ability to work within and meet aggressive deadlines.
• Detail oriented, strong organizational skills and multi-tasking capabilities.
• Exceptional communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
• Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to demonstrate navigation of complex problems and root causes.
• Demonstrated competence to mentor others and develop skillsets of team members within the organization.
• Proven capabilities to provide reliable solutions to a wide array of challenges using modern problem-solving techniques.
• Provides opportunities for process improvements to improve product development efficiency.
• Thorough understanding of product development design cycles from initial concept to mass production.
• Proven to be capable of leading cross-functional teams (including international team members).
• Minimal domestic and international travel required.

Compensation:

For this full-time position working at this location, the anticipated annualized base pay range will be from $95,500 - $177,300/ year. At Pentair, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the pay range. Pentair considers various factors in determining actual compensation for this position at the expected location. Actual compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, work location, and other relevant business or organizational needs.

This position may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as, annual incentive bonus.
