Maintenance Worker
1st Shift 7 : 30am-4 : 30pm Monday-Friday
19.25 per hour
Job Summary : Performs general maintenance, housekeeping, and landscaping duties on Center grounds and surrounding areas. Performs general maintenance and repairs of equipment and buildings.
Duties :
- Clean, dust, and wipe furniture; sweep, mop, or vacuum floors; empty / clean wastebaskets and trash containers; empty and clean ash trays and cigarette urns; replace light bulbs; refill restroom dispensers.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms / bathrooms using established practices and procedure.
- Assist with the setup of facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, events, etc.
- Strip, clean, buff and apply floor sealer and floor finish to hard surface floors, vacuum and shampoo carpets.
- Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools, buffers, auto scrubbers, extractors, high pressure washers, high speed buffers and vacuums, brooms, mops, and squeegees for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, furniture, etc.
- Wash walls and equipment; use ladders when required in work assignments.
- Lock and unlock assigned buildings : secure building when facilities are not in use checking for unlocked doors and windows, report any unauthorized occupants, turn off lights.
- Mix and use basic cleaning compounds, waxes and disinfectants as directed.
- Maintain outdoor area and keep clear of debris by cleaning and conducting related activities such as trash pickup, removing snow or debris from sidewalks and stairs in areas within sixteen feet of buildings using hand-operated tools or small power equipment.
- Move furniture, equipment, supplies and tools on an incidental basis.
- Wash accessible interior and exterior windows. Clean blinds. Launder cleaning rags and dustmops.
- Attend to emergencies when necessary.
- Assist with inventory control and security.
- Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities.
- Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions.
- Use a variety of hand and power tools in performing duties.
- Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.
- Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas
- Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
- Ensures that equipment used in outdoor maintenance is kept clean and in proper working order.
- Mows lawns, clears driveways and sidewalks of snow and uses appropriate material to safeguard against slipping.
