The Accounting Manager will need to possess a strong understanding of GAAP, cost/project accounting, excellent analytical skills, and exceptional interpersonal abilities to collaborate effectively with project managers and directors in managing project profitability.
Primary Responsibilities
- Ensure timely production and maintenance of the monthly invoicing cycle
- Manage accounts receivable, accounts payable, and cash flow
- Process deposits, positive pay, and oversee company bank account activity
- Identify and resolve issues related to unbilled labor, vendor invoices, and expenses
- Proactively collaborate with managers to monitor and improve project profitability by overseeing budgets and billable labor
- Utilize project reporting software (Deltek Ajera) for tasks including client, project, employee, and vendor setup
- Streamline accounts receivable and payable processes by developing and implementing effective accounting procedures
- Oversee and execute monthly, quarterly, and year-end closeout schedules, including the annual office budget
- Reconcile accounting reports on a monthly and quarterly basis for the executive team
- Partner with external accounting firms to provide monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting for audits and record keeping
- Ensure compliance with quarterly and year-end reporting requirements
- Other duties as assigned
Education & Skills You Need to Bring With You
Our ideal candidate will bring the following skills & experience with them:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5-10 years experience working with a Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software for a professional service preferably based in architecture or engineering
- Knowledge of GAAP and cost/project accounting
- High organization skill set
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively meet deadlines
- Motivated, self-directed, problem solver and ability to work in both individual and team settings
