What are the responsibilities and job description for the Domestic Violence Community Advocate position at People's Place?
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE COMMUNITY ADVOCATE: Full-time position to work with survivors of domestic violence who are involved with the Division of Family Services (DFS) and other survivors. The Community Advocate provides survivors with ongoing support and assistance to include safety planning, advocacy, connecting survivors to community resources, assisting survivors in filing for protection orders, attending court hearings; and providing consultation and training to DFS. Community Advocate must be empathetic, team-oriented and organized. Position requires contact with survivors in the community, some travel, documentation and data entry. Community Advocate is co-located in 24/7 shelter and at DFS offices. Preference given to applicants with work experience in domestic violence. Related Associate’s degree or equivalent and active Delaware driver’s license required.
