Job Summary
Plays a critical role in providing direct support and community engagement to youth in our domestic violence shelter. This position is split into two key focus areas:
- Medicaid-billable Services: (20 hours/week) Deliver therapeutic and rehabilitative services such as Community Psychiatric Supportive Treatment (CPST) and Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR).
- Community Outreach and Education: (20 hours/week) Organize and lead outreach programs, educational workshops, and advocacy campaigns in the community to raise awareness about domestic violence and available resources.
This role requires dedication to trauma-informed care, an empathetic approach, and the ability to build trust with youth and community members alike.
Key Responsibilities
Medicaid-Billable Services (20 hours/week):
- Provide Community Psychiatric Supportive Treatment (CPST) services, including one-on-one support for youth focusing on emotional well-being, coping strategies, and goal development.
- Facilitate Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR) services, including life-skills workshops to promote independence and recovery, such as conflict resolution and self-management skills.
- Conduct engaging group sessions like peer support groups and recreational activities with therapeutic goals, fostering connection and resilience among youth.
- Document services accurately using Medicaid-compliant processes, including ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes, such as H0036, H2015, and H2017, ensuring all documentation meets state (Ohio) Medicaid standards.
- Collaborate with case managers and therapists to tailor services to meet the unique needs of each youth.
Community Outreach and Education (20 hours/week):
- Plan and implement community workshops and educational sessions on topics related to domestic violence prevention, healthy relationships, and available resources.
- Engage local schools, youth organizations, and faith-based communities in presentations to build awareness and expand the shelter’s reach.
- Develop materials for outreach campaigns, including brochures, social media content, and event flyers, ensuring clear and accessible messaging for diverse audiences.
- Build relationships with community partners to establish referral networks and collaborative programs.
- Organize events (both in-person and virtual) like awareness walks, panel discussions, or film screenings that highlight the effects of domestic violence and encourage community action.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field (required)
- Minimum 1 year of experience working with youth, preferably in trauma-informed care or domestic violence settings
- Knowledge of Medicaid-billing processes and familiarity with relevant codes (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) is highly preferred
Skills and Attributes:
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with youth from diverse backgrounds
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities to balance Medicaid services and outreach activities
- Clear and empathetic communication skills, including public speaking and group facilitation
- Proficiency in trauma-informed care practices and an understanding of the intersectionality of domestic violence
- Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt programs to the needs of the community
Other Requirements:
- Willingness to travel locally for community outreach events (valid driver’s license required)
- Must complete a background check, drug screening, and attend mandatory training sessions
