Overview
Smokey Mountain Lumber of Asheville, NC began milling in the heart of The Blue Ridge Mountains in 1987. Our 11,000 square foot state of the art facility allows us to manufacture and deliver custom high-quality molding affordably to Western North Carolina and beyond.
SML is seeking skilled and experienced Mill Worker preferably Weining Profimat 23E moulder machine experience.
Mill Worker Job Responsibilities:
- Set Up and Operate saws and other woodworking machinery, including Rip Saw, Moulders and Sanders.
- Preferably familiar with Moulder Unimat 23E and Weining P23E
- Adjust and calibrate equipment to ensure precision cuts.
- Sort stack and package finished wood products for shipment.
- Inspect raw materials and finished goods for defects.
- Measure wood pieces to ensure they meet specifications.
- Keep the work area clean and organized.
Mill Worker Skills / Qualifications:
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
- Highly responsible & reliable
- Rip Saw Experience Preferred
- Familiarity with wood species and grade types.
- Ability to read and understand measurements.
- Physical stamina to lift heavy objects and stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and cohesively as part of a team.
- Comfortable working in noisy, dusty environments.
- Willingness to perform repetitive tasks and operate heavy machinery.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Prior experience in a lumber mill or industrial environment.
- Familiarity with Lumber and Milling equipment.
- Forklift experience preferred.
