Example of duties to be performed:
- Maintenance and repair of treatment equipment.
- Collect and test water samples.
- Add chemicals.
- Ensure important safety regulations are met.
- Record data and read gauges.
Work environment:
- Typically work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Physical aspects include a lot of walking, bending, stooping, crawling, crouching, lifting, pushing/pulling.
- Exposed to noise from machinery, unpleasant odors, malfunctioning equipment, confined spaces, and heights.
- Typically work during the day, in addition to being on-call for a one-week period and perform weekend rounds based on a rotating schedule.
- Occasionally may have to respond to after-hour emergencies, such as sewer backups/water main breaks.
- Will be required to communicate with a variety of audiences - from consumers to regulatory agency staff; therefore, must provide a high level of customer service and ability to handle situations using tact and diplomacy.
