PeopleService, Inc. is seeking a certified WW operator for Winsted, MN, and water/wastewater operator for surrounding contracts, such as New Germany. Class D WW license preferred or ability to obtain within 6 mos. Water license helpful but not required at date of hire. Strong mechanical skills required. Must live within 10-30 min. of community. Rotating weekend/on-call duty. Required to pass pre-emp physical including drug test.
JOB SUMMARY: To perform safe, effective, operations and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment, distribution and collection facilities under contract to PeopleService, Inc. Ensures safe, reliable performance of operations and maintenance in compliance with all company policies and procedures, as well as, local, state, federal and contractual requirements. Functions with independence in field locations and acts as liaison with clients and general public.
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for safe, efficient and effective operation and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment facilities, as well as, distribution systems, collection systems and pumping facilities.
- Ensures plants function to their optimum capabilities in compliance with state and federal regulations. Monitors gauges, meters and control panels; observes variations in operating conditions. Interprets meters, gauge readings and test results to determine processing requirements.
- Performs operational and required laboratory tests and analysis of product in a safe manner, prepares and submits required reports to necessary agencies.
- Responds to customer or client complaints and resolves such complaints in a safe, fair and expeditious manner.
- Prepares and submits monthly operations and performance reports to the technical supervisor and client as directed. Acts as liaison with appropriate regulatory staff on behalf of client and company.
- Responsible for or assisting with the procurement of all materials, supplies, electrical power, chemicals, contract services and items necessary in the operation and maintenance of the system.
- Performs safe, preventive maintenance and repairs on machinery and equipment. Updates and maintains records of completed maintenance.
- Provide assistance at multiple work sites as requested.
EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATION: High School diploma or equivalent. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Possession of Minnesota Class D wastewater and D water certifications preferred or ability to obtain certifications with six (6) months of employment.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS: Two to four years experience in water/wastewater technology preferred. Ability to effectively communicate with a diverse client group such as City Council members, community customers, vendors, etc. Previous experience operating a small to medium sized water/wastewater system with responsibility for the total operation on a day-to-day basis. Must possess excellent leadership skills and work independently with minimal supervision as this is the only position at the facility.
DESCRIPTION OF FACILITY: The Winsted wastewater plant is a Class A facility that consists of an oxidation ditch with sludge storage ponds and UV disinfection. Responsible for 6 lift stations.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Requires the incumbent to be a dedicated professional to ensure water produced is of a quality that is healthy to users and treated wastewater does not degrade the environment. Required to work weekends/on-call based on rotating schedule. Frequent walking is involved and must possess excellent eye, hand and foot coordination. Position requires incumbent to actively demonstrate safety procedures.
Starting wage $18.38-$30.00 DOE and certifications
