Opportunity
PeopleTec is currently seeking a Senior System Engineer to support our Huntsville, AL location.
As a Senior System Engineer, you will work with a team in the design, support, installation, and maintenance of our customer’s server systems and related technologies. As a member of this team, you will be responsible for providing technical assistance to our customers. We are looking for someone who is passionate about technology and has an aptitude for problem solving.
In addition, you will coordinate system changes and communicate with impacted stakeholders, perform project work to install, update and/or replace server systems and troubleshoot complex server issues. This is a technical hands-on position in which you will maintain hardware and software components as needed, including Linux OS, Windows Server OS, Terraform, Ansible and other systems.
Finally, you will work with other teams where appropriate to assist in the resolution of infrastructure-related problems.
Qualifications
Required Skills/Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years experience
- Design and implement new server solutions and/or improve efficiency of current systems in coordination with other members of the team.
- Perform a variety of operational, analytical, planning, and related tasks with duties concentrated in installing, configuring, maintaining, and securing the server systems.
- Configure, document, test, troubleshoot, create, and/or modifies system. documentation related to the internal test servers.
- Participate in After Action Reviews and maintain documentation for best practices.
- Participates in special projects as required.
- Travel: 0-25%
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Candidates are required to have an active Secret clearance upon hire, and the ability to obtain a TS/SCI level of clearance during their employment.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Associates degree
Desired Skills:
- 5 years of experience configuring and maintaining Linux (RHEL and Ubuntu)
- 5 years of experience configuring and maintaining Windows Server Operating Systems.
- Experience creating Terraform playbooks to deploy virtual machines in vCenter
- Experience creating Ansible scripts to configure Linux and Windows servers
- Experience creating PowerShell scripts
- Experience creating Bash scripts
- Experience applying STIG and other server hardening settings
- Installing, monitoring, and maintaining database services
- Installing, monitoring, and maintaining web services
- Troubleshooting network connectivity issues
- Monitor server performance to identify potential issues
- Work with internal teams to identify and address customer needs.
