Our client is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee financial accounting operations and drive process improvements across key functions. This role ensures compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), provides leadership to the accounting team, and fosters a culture of accuracy and efficiency. The ideal candidate is a results-driven professional with a strong background in accounting, financial reporting, and team management, preferably within manufacturing or corporate environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Accounting and Reporting:
- Ensure the preparation of accurate financial statements and reports in compliance with IFRS.
- Stay informed on updates to IFRS and accounting standards, providing guidance on their implications.
Continuous Improvement:
- Lead efforts to improve balance sheet reconciliations, streamline workflows, and implement automation.
- Drive efficiency and accuracy through process optimization.
Month-End Close and Balance Sheet Reconciliations:
- Manage month-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Oversee balance sheet reconciliations, resolving discrepancies and enhancing controls.
Shared Services (AP/AR) and Cash Flow Management:
- Supervise accounts payable and receivable functions, optimizing payment and collection processes.
- Prepare and analyze cash flow forecasts, ensuring alignment with financial strategies.
Internal Controls and Compliance:
- Maintain a robust control environment to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Support external audit processes and ensure accurate and timely audit documentation.
Team Leadership:
- Develop and mentor the accounting team to achieve high levels of performance and collaboration.
- Foster a culture of accountability and continuous learning.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Contribute to the budgeting and forecasting process, providing insights to guide strategic decisions.
- Monitor financial performance and deliver variance analysis to stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including 3 years in a managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS or US GAAP accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Experience with shared services (AP/AR) and cash flow forecasting.
- CPA certification and experience in manufacturing or corporate reporting preferred.
