What are the responsibilities and job description for the Affordable Housing Specialist position at Pepper Pike Staffing LLC?
In this role, you would be administering the voucher program; reviewing new application files and vouchers for HUD Section 8 funding program requirements; communicating with and interviewing prospective residents, as well as current residents over Teams, text, phone, and email; and determining what documentation and verifications are needed to determine eligibility for living in one of our communities with vouchers. Pepper Pike Property Management is looking for a professional, energetic, and passionate individual who has previous voucher, Section 8, and sales experience who can offer thorough and robust service to prospective and current residents. This individual must be able to work independently yet contribute to the property’s overall success through teamwork.
- Understanding of Affordable Housing Programs:
- Deep knowledge of programs like Section 8 vouchers, Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC), public housing, and other local/state initiatives.
- Familiarity with eligibility requirements, application processes, and compliance regulations.
- Housing Policy & Regulations:
- Knowledge of fair housing laws, landlord-tenant rights, and relevant building codes for inspections.
- Understanding of local zoning ordinances and development regulations.
- Community Development Principles:
- Understanding of how housing intersects with community needs, economic development, and social services (
- Maintain communication with housing authorities and provide updated collateral frequently to stay top-of-mind
- Build relationships with local non-profit organizations that focus on housing/rehousing such as the VA, Elderly Service Program, etc.
- Build and maintain relationships with case workers, and other industry professionals that coordinate with voucher holders
Qualifications:
- At least three (3) years of housing assistance experience is required, specifically vouchers
- At least two (2) years, leasing, hospitality, or administrative experience
- LIHTC Certification, HCCP Certification
- Certified Occupancy Specialist (COS) is preferred
- Computer/technical skills (i.e., basic knowledge of computer programs, proficient with Microsoft Office, etc.)
- Yardi and CRM experience preferred
- English/Spanish bilingual preferred
- Excellent customer service skills
- Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to interact with wide range of people
- Consistent adherence to high standards of ethical behavior, confidentiality, and professionalism
