Our client, a leading company in the Renewable Energy sector, is seeking an Operations Control Specialist to join their financial and operational team. This role will support the analysis, monitoring, and management of operational expenses to optimize financial performance and resource utilization across multiple projects in the US and Canada. The Operations Control Specialist will analyze operational KPIs (production, availability, etc.), track expenses, assist in budgeting, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to help identify cost-saving opportunities.

- Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Gather and analyze data on operational expenses and KPIs from various systems to assess trends.
- Prepare and present regular OPEX performance reports to management, highlighting variances and identifying risks.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assist in the preparation of OPEX and CAPEX forecasts, tracking actual vs. budgeted expenses.
- Support annual budgeting processes, working closely with finance and operations teams.
- Participate in monthly and quarterly forecasting activities to keep financial projections on track.
- Cost Management and Optimization:
- Monitor expenses against budgets and support corrective actions as needed.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and support initiatives to reduce OPEX.
- Perform cost-benefit analyses for proposed projects to help prioritize spending.
- Operational KPI Tracking:
- Monitor key operational metrics, such as production and availability, to help meet annual goals.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to streamline KPI reporting and analysis processes.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with finance, operations, and procurement teams to align OPEX-related activities.
- Maintain close communication with regional teams to ensure consistency in reporting tools and processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 4-5 years of professional experience in Cost Management, Financial Analysis, and Budgeting, with at least 2 years in a similar role within the Renewable Energy sector, or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with financial software; ERP experience is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and the ability to communicate complex data clearly.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in OPEX or financial analysis within an operational setting.
- Working knowledge of cost accounting, budgeting, and contract implementation.
- Minimum of 20% travel, including international.
- Proactive problem-solving approach and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and manage multiple deadlines.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey recommendations to management.
