Under the guidance of the Maintenance Manager, the Entry-Level Plant Engineer will support plant engineering, operations, maintenance, and project management. Under the guidance of the Maintenance Manager, the Entry-Level Plant Engineer will support plant engineering, operations, maintenance, and project management. This role provides an opportunity to apply engineering principles in a hands-on environment while ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Learn and apply plant design principles and assist in the Management of Change (MOC) program.
- Support investigations into equipment failures and contribute to Root Cause Analysis.
- Develop relationships with equipment manufacturers and vendors.
- Assist in making cost-effective engineering decisions to enhance plant performance.
- Support regulatory compliance efforts related to NERC, Regional Reliability Entity, and EIA standards.
- Oversee contractor and vendor activities, ensuring compliance with company standards.
- Assist in analyzing plant performance and efficiency, reporting findings to leadership.
- Maintain technical documentation, including drawings and reference materials.
- Support capital project planning, budgeting, and execution.
- Participate in scheduling and coordinating maintenance activities.
- Document plant maintenance activities to maintain accurate historical records.
- Collaborate in a team-oriented work environment to improve plant operations.
- Provide support for operations and maintenance training programs.
- Assist in optimizing the plant’s Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Contribute to outage planning and work scope development.
- Provide on-call emergency support as needed.
- Assist in developing specifications for equipment and materials.
- Participate in designing and justifying plant improvements and modifications.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with power plant operations, gas/steam technologies, or maintenance is a plus.
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including turbines and generators, is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic engineering software.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to handle physical tasks such as lifting (up to 50 lbs), climbing, and working in various conditions.
- Valid driver’s license required for business-related travel.
