Position Overview:
Per Scholas Inc., a national nonprofit focused on advancing economic mobility through education, seeks a Director of Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A). This position requires a strategic thinker with strong technical skills in financial modeling and scenario analysis and proficiency in Excel and Adaptive Insights. This key role will oversee the organization’s financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, scenario analysis, and business intelligence functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Planning & Budgeting: Lead the annual budget development, long-range financial plans, and mid-year forecasting. Collaborate across departments to ensure accurate, timely, and realistic financial projections.
- Forecasting & Scenario Modeling: Use Adaptive Planning to create detailed financial models, forecast revenue, expenses, and cash flow, and run various scenarios to guide executive leadership in strategic decision-making.
- Business & Financial Analysis: Provide comprehensive business analysis, including variance analysis and key performance indicators (KPIs) tracking, and develop financial reports and presentations with actionable insights for leadership.
- Adaptive Planning System Management: Act as the subject matter expert for Adaptive, ensuring data accuracy, optimizing system functionality, and training team members on best practices.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with key program management, fundraising, and operations stakeholders to align financial plans with organizational goals and initiatives.
- Strategic Leadership: Drive continuous improvement in financial planning processes, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and adaptability to changing business conditions.
- Team Leadership: Manage and develop a team of financial analysts, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence in financial planning and analysis.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA or relevant certification (CPA, CFA) preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in financial planning and analysis, including overseeing org-wide budgeting, forecasting, and business analysis.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and hands-on experience with Adaptive Planning is required.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.
- Expertise in financial modeling, scenario analysis, and forecasting.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Experience leading budgeting processes and improving financial systems.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment with multiple stakeholders.
- Experience in the nonprofit sector, particularly in education or workforce development, is a plus.
For this role specifically, we are targeting a salary range of $110,000 to $120,000 where the difference in salary is typically determined by several factors, including geography in which the selected candidate resides, and alignment with qualifications and experience.
